ARTIST STATEMENT:

A move to Provincetown in 2009 provided me with an opportunity to become a part of an historic arts community and to experience first-hand the work of artists (past and present) and the landscapes and the townscapes that have inspired their work.

My paintings have evolved from earlier traditional townscapes using a basic understanding of architectural forms from my professional background to imaginary forms and locations using unidentified vantage points and perspectives.

My approach and preparation for oil painting includes my love for notebook pencil sketching, quick watercolor studies and weekly access to figure drawing at PAAM to keep my eye in check.

I am interested in moving my painting forward and not being satisfied if this year’s work is the same as a previous year’s work.
